Modular electric road train
Overview
A modular electric road train for tourism, leisure, resorts, parks, historic centres and other visitor-transport applications.
A fully electric, solar-supported on-road train with an operating range of up to 135 km per charge at a permissible speed of 25 km/h. Re-charging is possible within 30 minutes, and the roof-mounted solar panels provide several kilometres of additional range per hour of sunshine. On-road homologation is available for specific market configurations, with gradeability of up to 25 %. Low noise and zero local emissions.
The eTrain comprises an electric locomotive and up to three trailers in S, M and L sizes. The locomotive is driven by 2 × 15 kW electric motors with a combined towing capacity of more than 30 tonnes, power steering on the front axle and an electronic differential (torque vectoring) on the rear wheels; the independent drive axles feature recuperation braking. Wagons offer various seat and door configurations, all-wheel steering for a minimum turning circle, configurable interior design and a manually operated wheelchair ramp. The train is built on a high-alloy steel chassis with a GRP lightweight body, torsion-spring suspension on all axles, pneumatic service brakes, electrically actuated parking brakes, safety-glass windows and a heating and air-conditioning system.
Driver plus one passenger in the locomotive; up to 14 passengers in Trailer S, up to 22 in Trailer M and up to 34 in Trailer L. Maximum passenger capacity per train is 68, depending on configuration.
Li-ion battery packs of 66 or 88 kWh, selected according to the required duty cycle and vehicle configuration.
Up to 135 km per charge, measured at 75 % load on flat terrain. Actual operating range depends on configuration, payload, topography, climate and operating profile.
Re-charging within 30 minutes under defined charging conditions. Charger power and state-of-charge window are configuration-specific and will be published following technical sign-off.
Maximum permitted speed of 25 km/h and gradeability of up to 25 %, supporting operation on demanding site and visitor routes.
Roof-mounted solar panels support the vehicle's auxiliary systems and provide several kilometres of additional range per hour of sunshine, depending on irradiation and operating conditions.
